Best snack subscription boxes (2026): the big four compared

Short answer: four names cover most of the market — Universal Yums and SnackCrate if you want a country-a-month theme, MunchPak if you want the biggest mixed packs, and Candy Club if sweets beat savory. Here is what each one actually is, without made-up prices — check current boxes and rates on their own sites, because they change seasonally.

Universal Yums

The best-known country-themed box: each month spotlights one country with a mix of sweet and savory snacks, plus a booklet explaining what you are eating. Reviewers consistently rank it first in the category (see CNET's snack box guide). Best for curious snackers who like the story as much as the snacks.

SnackCrate

Also country-themed, with tiered box sizes — the "deluxe" tiers go bigger on quantity. Universal Yums publishes its own head-to-head comparison page, which tells you the two are close enough that the choice comes down to box size and country rotation. Best for sharing on family nights.

MunchPak

Less theme, more volume: mixed international snacks in larger packs, with an option to tune spice and candy balance. Best for households that burn through snacks fast.

Candy Club

Candy-only, US-focused picks in a candy-shop presentation — the pick for sweet-tooth households that do not care about the international angle.

How we would choose

1. Country discovery → Universal Yums or SnackCrate.
2. Volume per dollar → MunchPak.
3. Candy-first household → Candy Club.
